Club Night - Composition Masterclass

We had a packed house for this week’s meet — and it’s no surprise, as the masterclass on image composition proved to be one that really got everyone thinking. The session encouraged members to take a deeper look at how they construct, balance, and guide the viewer’s eye through an image. Many left feeling inspired and reflective, with one member noting that it “really made me think about my images and how I compose, construct, view.”

There were also some interesting conversations around the amount of post-processing evident in many of the images shown. For some, this was surprising and sparked healthy debate about where composition ends and editing begins. But overall, the evening pushed us all to reassess our approach and consider how thoughtful composition — whether in-camera or enhanced in post — can elevate an image from good to outstanding.
